Dusseldorf Xmas Markets

My family are upset because I will not go there with them this year. I'm afraid I just don't don't see the attraction.Am I wrong?Am I right? Does anybody have any helpful comments to make on this matter?

If you've been to the Dusseldorf Christmas market before and you didn't like it, why should you have to go again? But if you haven't, don't write it off so quickly. We went to their market in 2002 and were pleasantly surprised. Less of the mass produced stuff from Asia that we've seen at other markets (like Aachen's) and more unique items...some more modern than traditional but very interesting. Some of the stallholders are students and alums from Dusseldorf's highly regarded art school.
We also had a good time poking around the old town of Dusseldorf, which is quite lively, and enjoyed a fun meal and good beer at the Schlosser Alt brewhouse/restaurant.

As BT hinted at--you can go with the family to Dusseldorf, and let them go to the Christmas market while you do other things that interest you. Mrs. Fly and I often split up while on vacation.
