Dusseldorf: best areas of the city
 

I am visiting Dusseldorf for a long week-end. Where is best to stay?

YMMV, but when we lived in the region, our favorite part of the city was around Königsallee. We would base there but sometimes go over to the Altstadt for drinking and dining. You will find plenty to do in the city itself, but our favorite day trip was to the scenic village of Hattingen. It's about an hour from Dusseldorf by train (change in Essen).
