Duoro wine question

Sorry had to start a new thread - have been trying and unable to post to "Things to do..." What is happening?

wine question:
Have you had wine from Quinta de la Rosa? It is in Pinhao. They also have rooms and I was planning to be in that area on my husband's birthday. It would be a real treat (if it was good!) to stay at the vineyard, have dinner, tour, etc. They responded to my eamil and the room is 80 euros and dinner 25 euro per person.

Now that I am excited about that the next question is if we are driving from Palace Bucaco that day how long a trip would it be? Are there stops we might make on the way? Viseu, Lamego?

Thanks as always and all my arrangements are about set!
Barbara

Barb.

The drive is about two and one half hours.
Rick Steves mentions this Quinta in his book. I don't know if that turns you off or not.
Try to go to Quinta do Panascal if you have the time. Lovely to walk through the vineyard.
I posted on the other thread this morning, don't know what the problem is.

Barb. I also looked in my Rough Guide for Pinhao and they really liked the Quinta de la Rosa. They said the rooms have beautiful views of the river.

I cannot remember where we ate there. We only drove from Braga for the day straight there. But I always said that we should have planned to stay on the Douro because I thought it was so picturesque.

The roads are in good condition but they are secondary roads and you just meander following the river.

for your planning the bridge is closed for MAJOR rebuilding at Pinhao with infrequent ferry service on the day we were there. be aware or trip planning. the area is beautiful. we drove by quinta de la rosa and it has a lovely setting.
