Dubrovnik to Kotor
What is the best way to get from Dubrovnik to Kotor in March? We will have a rental car, but I don't know if we can take it into Montenegro. Are there ferries? Thanks for any information.

When we rented our car at the Dubrovnik airport (thru AutoEurope) they asked us if we were driving into Montenegro. When we answered in the affirmative they gave us a car that was Montenegro ready. It had the proper papers and was missing a hubcap IIRC, LOL. The trip was easy and beautiful, we loved the bay and the towns surrounding. Have fun!

stu t. Glong: It's a beautiful drive..so try to make every effort to drive. I drove it last in 2004 and had no problem..used Budget, and rented car in Zadar. stu t. |
Stu T,
Are you the Stu who sent me a wonderful Provence itinerary? Thanks for the information from both of you! |
There's at least one bus every day from Dubrovnik to Kotor, and other buses to Herceg Novi. There are frequent Montenegrin buses from Herceg Novi to Kotor and on to Budva.

>>>Are you the Stu who sent me a wonderful Provence itinerary? <<< No, that's the France/Provence maven who spends two months every year in France...stu Dudley. His detailed itineraries are chock full of a wide variety of information as you have seen. We're both Californians, though. Stu Tower |

stu t." Well hey right back to you Stu! Good to see you! Where have we been? - Wow,loaded question on a travel board, LOL. We loved our trip to Turkey and Greece last May (thanks for all your great advice), and got trapped in Thailand last November when a political group took over the Bangkok airports and closed them down for 8 days. Crazy! Now I am perusing the boards for trip to London and Scotland in June. Sorry you asked?? :) Where you been????? Sorry for the interruption GLong2027, but a little topping always helps for more answers anyway!! I know that there are day trips on a bus you can take from Dubrovnik if you really could not take your car to Montenegro - but have you checked? Who and where are you renting from? Make sure the car has the papers needed, I remember a thread where someone had to pay a bunch extra for some kind of border insurance, I will try to find that for you. If you do drive, be sure to go around the whole bay and stop in Perast. As I recall, we did take a little car ferry at the end of the bay just to save a little time on the drive back. Hubby and I remember that day as one of the highlights of our trip, the bay was just so gosh darn gorgeous (our day was sunny and I sure that had a big impact) and Kotor was so much quieter in September than Dubrovnik was. We stopped at a restaurant on the way back to Dubrovnik and had dinner on tables set up over a creek and under a bridge, that was fun too. |
