Dubrovnik Restaurants

Would appreciate recommendations for average priced seafood restaurants in Dubrovnik.
Thanks, Bill

Hi,
Theres many restaurants in Dubrovnik and surrounding places, from expensive to average and reasonable prices. The best one is "Nautika" but also expensive one.In old town You will find also some good with moderate prices like "Proto" but I can suggest You two reataurants with very good seafood and also very popular by locals and turists:
"Kamenice" is situated on Market place and other one "Lokanda" situated in old port.If You have more questions dont hestate to ask, Im right in Dubrovnik now.

We enjoyed Ragusa 2, on the back street paralleling the Stradum. Also enjoyed one whose name I can't remember, it was directly on the harbor, near the edge of the shopping bazaar and had a line outside.

I found Nautica to be overpriced and just average - a tourist haunt. Proto is pretty good - great for lunch on the upstairs covered patio. Buffet "Skola" located just on Stradun on Antuninska has a wonderful simple sandwhich for about $4 (?). Also, konoba Penatur, located near St. Blaise, was moderately priced - and if you're lucky, there may be a preformance on the church steps while you dine. For a splurge - try the Rustica Taverna at the Hotel Excelsior - great food and a picture perfect view of the Old Town.

I think the restaurant Steff's referring to is " Locanda Peskarija " though I can't vouch for the spelling. I have a wonderful sea food risotto here last September, served in its own small cast iron pot. Started with the deep fried Girice (baby anchovies breaded, deep fried and served in a hot crunchy pile with fresh lemon to squirt over). Prices very reasonable.

Unfortunately my experience with Ragusa II was not quite so positive. Over priced and just so-so.

We had cruise stops in 2002 and 03 in Dubronik and "discovered" Proto the first trip and liked it very much. Went back again in 03 and found it just as pleasant.

Yes, Mathieu, "Locanda Peskarija" that is the restaurant-I remember the fried anchovies and the risotto in the cast iron pot.
We really enjoyed chatting with the wait staff at Ragusa II, and they poured us free slivovitz, too. That may have colored our opinions!
