Dublin with a child - lodging location question

Hello,

We are a family of 3 (child is 6.5years old) heading to Dublin in June for one week. We will be staying there the entire time and doing some leisure sightseeing. Most likely we will do one day trip to Malahide Castle by DART, and perhaps one other day trip (TBD) by public transport. We like walking but we will be using the bus system in Dublin if/when our child gets tired.

I am looking for apartments on Airbnb and am undecided as to which location is "best." I narrowed it down to 8 locations - most are in the Grand Canal area in the apartment buildings. But there is one to the west side of town and a few to the south. We want quiet locations but not too inconvenient for sightseeing/getting to/from Dart and airport.

I've attached the locations of these apartments - any comments?

I would stay by the canal. Close by Luas station. I like the area by Camden but it is more of a pub area and you have a 6-year-old so not on your agenda. Before someone says Airbnb and Dublin will be having a crackdown in June so also look at VROB. I rent from a friend but over by Dublin castle. On the canal, you are closer to the dart train so that will be nice.

yikes, thanks for the heads up regarding the June crackdown. I looked up a few news articles about it. But does it apply to all short term rentals - so it will affect other sites like vrbo and HomeAway? Or just Airbnb?

https://www.irishcentral.com/news/ir...ped-in-ireland It seems Airbnb are their target and not sure how much it will be enforced in June. I know my place is on daft.ie and the owners are realtors. I would probably look at VRBO or homeaway.

I sent inquiries to 3 Airbnb hosts and asked about the new regulations. They all replied saying that the legislation will take several months to take effect so it won't affect our stay in mid-June. One even said that once the regulation is in effect, the listing will be in line with the legislation.
