Dublin when you only have an evening
We will only be in Dublin for one evening. Doubt that we will get there much before 5:00 pm. We plan on a walking tour past Trinity, St Patricks, Christ Church, as they will be closed. Will the downtown stores still be opened? Can you recommend a favorite restaurant in that area? and do you recommend Mulligans for a pub to end the evening with a pint? Anything else to recommend since the hour is so late? Thanks.

I have to top my own post!

You're choices of what to do are really limited. Most shops close at five or six, unless it's a Thursday night, when some are open until eight or nine.
If I were you, I'd map out a few good pubs and local restarants and make the rounds.
One other possibility is the Irish Film Center in Temple Bar.
You run the chance of seeing an Irish film and they have a cute cafe.
Enjoy your trip.

I'd recommend taking the Literary Pub Crawl for some fun for the evening. You'll see some old pubs, Grafton Street and the pub crawl includes a stop in front of Trinity College.

Thank you both for your replies. How do you go about taking the Pub Crawl?

Here's the info on the pub crawl:

Jameson Literary Pub Crawl
Contact Information
Phone 01/670-5602

Hours: Year-round. Actors provide appropriate performances and commentary between stops. The tour assembles at the Duke Pub on Duke Street (off Grafton Street).
