Dublin-what's a good location for hotel given no car while in city?

Hi All! Things are coming together for our "country" experiences in Ireland this Oct. 1-10, 2011. However, our first and last nights will be in Dublin. We will rent a car as we leave and turn it in upon our arrival back, so we are looking for a good location IN the city that has close transport both to the sights and to/from the airport. We prefer 4-5 star hotels for this leg of our trip.

Thanks!

Great location by Grafton St. and just far enough (but not too far) from Temple Bar area. Great staff! Good breakfast.

It isn't right in the heart of Dublin, but you can walk to and from St. Stephen's Green to the Four Seasons in about 30 to 40 minutes. By cab it is less than 10 minutes.

If looking for a Four or Five Star, might as well start with the Four Seasons. Hotel staff was incredibly friendly and very competent. Room was spacious and nicely appointed. Heck, Beyonce was there so it must be good.

The hotel is just across the street from the airport shuttle bus. Food was expensive, but they recommended Roly's, a very nice place, near the American Embassy for dinner.

Meant to add, I made the walk to and from The Four Seasons with an 8 year old in tow so it is a fairly manageable walk.

The Westbury and the Shelburne both are in great locations and in my experience, excellent hotels. Slightly partial to the Shelburne for location and history.

Have a look at the Westbury - traditional and with a great central location. We have always had good luck getting discounts. Easy walking distance to a huge number of sights.

The Westbury it is! It looks to be a great location and I like the "feel" of the rooms shown....decor, etc.

Thank you all!
