Dublin - trendy wine bar

Hi everyone

I'm going to Dublin on Friday, just for the one night (I live in Northern Ireland).

Can anyone tell me of a trendy wine bar type place, with good food and a friendly atmosphere? Maybe with an open fire? Somewhere fun but with great food! I don't want a pub, nor a posh restaurant, but somewhere in between!

Thanks

Angela

Try The Ely wine bar, 22 Ely Place, Dublin 2 (tel. +353-1-6768986). Excellent wine (a great deal of which is sold by the glass) and yummy organic food. Downstairs is cosier than upstairs, unless you get the window seats upstairs.

To get there, continue along the Shelbourne Hotel side of Stephen's Green, until you get to Merrion Row. At the end of Merrion Row, take a right (just before you get to Baggot Street) -that's Ely Place. The Ely is about 20 metres down Ely Place on your right hand side.

Here's a review
http://www.ivenus.com/food/drinks/MO-bar_rat-wk49.asp

Get there as early as you can, because it fills up quickly.

Another good place would be Cafe en Seine on Kildare Street (parallel to Grafton Street). It's been renovated and re-opened last year. Beautiful place..hard to describe...Floor to ceiling palm trees, Chandeliers, 3 levels up to class ceiling. It's nice for food and a glass of wine in the day and busy & trendy at night.

Ely is also a favourite of mine and I would also reccommend. The Bar in the Fitzwilliam hotel is great as well for cocktails and a snack...not sure how late they serve food.

Another place for a glass of wine and a snack is Salamanca at the junction of Sussex street and and the top of Trinity street. It's a Tapas restaurant but I often have gone in for a glass of wine and a tapa. The food is good and you won't be stuffed unless you order loads of small tapas.

enjoy!
