Dublin theater suggestions

My daughter and I will be in Dublin Feb. 21-25, and I am hoping that some of our local Dublin Fodorites can suggest some good theater options. We're already planning to do the musical pub crawl and hopefully spend one evening either at Johnny Fox's or Taylors 3 Rock... but I'd also like to take in a play one night. Any suggestions or any other "not to miss" evening events that week? Thanks for your help!

Hello Efg

A play in the Gate Theatre at the moment called Faith Healer is getting rave reviews, it stars Ralph Finnes ( which is always a bonus)!

Gate Theatre
1 Cavendish Row
Dublin 1.

Time: 8.00 p.m. Monday - Saturday
Tickets: €29/€31. Previews: €18. Matinees €24

I was also going to recommend Faith Healer! I'm looking forward to going myself - but not until March. It's difficult to get tickets though, so I'd call as soon as possible if I were you.

You should also see what's on in The Peacock, The Abbey and Andrews Lane theatres.

The Dublin International Film Festival is on until the 26th February. http://www.dubliniff.com/

If you like music, you could check out what's on in the National Concert Hall - http://www.nch.ie/

Hope that helps! enjoy!

When we were in Dublin in December we went to the Helix, a very stylish modern theatre a little way from the city centre. We saw an excellent production of The Secret Garden.

To get there we took a taxi - 15 euros, but we didn't book one to get back, so flagged one down in the road outside. You can book tickets online, or by phone - I couldn't get the seats I wanted on the internet, so I called them and got front row dress circle, right in the centre - best seats in the house! They offered to post the tickets to me, but I collected them on arrival. Great service.

Out of town but worth considering seeing what's on.

I envy you...a few years ago in Dublin we saw Hurt in "Krapps Last Tape" at The Gate and "Translations" at The Abbey. I should hink anyone might want to go to a theatre there. Oh yes, pub entertainment as well...love that Irish music.

I searched for the 21st Feb and found
http://www.eventguide.ie/resultsadv.elive

The old bewleys on Grafton street still has some plays and events the event guide will list most things happening in the area.

The faith Healer would be great but probably hard to get tickets at this late date.
