Dublin Restaurant

Please give me your personal experience, no websites, the the Dublin restaurant, La Stampa. Thanks.

La Stampa has been re-vamped in the past few years to add a boutique type hotel above the restaurant.

I have eaten in the restaurant a few years ago on business but honestly, it was average. Many people used to go here for their wedding dinner in groups after getting married in the nearby registry office. It still is popular for this.

I just looked at the website and menu and it seems great for a foodie and lots of unusual dishes. There are several other restaurants at that price level with great reputations. I just don't hear anyone saying they eat in La Stampa anymore.

Thrortons
Peploes
Shanahans on the Green
Fado
Chapter One
Halo (In the Morrison Hotel)

Check out some of these on www.adlib.ie which is a restaurant search site and you choose Dublin. Some restaurants have reviews.

Siobhan,

Thanks!! We will be staying at the Harcourt St. Hotel and I believe Shanahan's is right up the block. We will look in to your other kind suggestions as well.

Failte,

Anthony

If you're looking for a wonderful restaurant in Dublin, try Jacob's Ladder. It's near Trinity College on Nassau Street. We went there last November, and had a fabulous and memorable meal. Check out the listing for it on Frommers.com. It is expensive, but everyone in our group of four couples thought it was a great value for the money. Make sure to save room for dessert!

Jacobs Ladder is a place I tell few people. We all need a few secret places :-).

Just be prepared for the prices at Shanahans its pricey, but the people I know who ate there say its worth it. I am hoping to make it there in the next 6 months. Check out the review on adlib.ie and their website is www.shanahans.ie. Post a review here if you eat there.

Shanahans is fantastic - one of the best restaurants in Dublin.
If you like Thai food, the Chili Club on South Anne Street is great.
If you want really exclusive, try Patrick Guilbauds or the Unicorn
One Pico near Molesworth Street is lovely too
Les Freres Jacques on Dame Street is also worth a visit.

and as for my secret place....it's a secret ;)

I have a few as well Cailin...jeep it or we will never het into our haunts again. I share with a few people but keep the best (not necessairly the most expensive) to myself. No one has mentioned them yet so I am safe :-) I am sure I will eventually give them all away!

Once again I did not check before posting ...pardon my spelling for the spelling police :-)

Its been about 4 years since I dined at La Stampa, so I have no recent news.

I would also recommend Jacob's Ladder, Thortons and Shannahans. I would add L'Ecrivian on Lower Baggot St4reet.

I suggest you buy The Bridgestone Food Guide, it has never steered us wrong.

Enjoy Dublin, I was just there last weekend :>)

Regards ...Ger

We had dinner there last August. The food was great, the service impeccible, and the atmosphere superb. The dining room is beautiful and lit by a zillion candles. The maitre d makes the best cosmos I have ever had anywhere.

We also stayed at the hotel there, which was not very expensive, and very enjoyable. The only downside to the hotel is the lack of elevator.
