dublin-london best way to travel?
I need to go from Dublin to London, and the plane tickets have gone to the stars from one day to the other. If I travel by car, how long does it take to get from dublin to london. And how do I cross the channel?

Florencia,
Have you checked out Ryanair for cheap no frills flights out of london to Dublin ? Ferries and the drive from London to the Ferryport makes taking the ferry a time consuming option,

Cathy

I live in Dublin and I'd fly every time without a doubt BUT if you have to take the car these are your choices. You can sail from Dun Laoghaire (ten miles south of Dublin) to Holyhead. This takes about three and a half hours by ferry or two(approx) by fast ferry. Then you have quite a pleasant but long journey through North Wales on the A5 until you meet the motorway. It is motorway then all the way to London although I think you change motorway just south of Birmingham. I'm not sure but I think the car aspect of the journey would take at least 6 hours, if not more. Alternatively you can take the car ferry from Dublin port itself to Liverpool(about 6 hours I think) You would probably join a motorway just out of Liverpool which again would take you to London with a couple of changes. Not sure how long this would take.....anyway you can understand why I prefer to fly. And taking the car makes the ferry almost as dear as Ryanair. You could get the ferry and go by train to London too...this is cheaper and not as tiring.

I've travelled by air, and would highly recommend Ryanair. There are several flights each day - almost every hour, I think. But if you have loads of time, you could drive and ferry to Dublin, but it's not going to provide the driving views you will get once you get to Ireland. I'd recommend you spend your time touring by car when you get to Ireland. Hope you have a wonderful trip.
