Dublin Itin Help

Hi fellow fodorites!

I am looking for advice on my short itin in Dublin. I have two full days to see as much as possible and based on reading some of the postings on this site, here is what I am thinking. Any advice would be GREAT!

HOTEL: The Shelbourne located in St. Stephen's Green

DAY 1:

Arrive early in the morning, check into hotel

1. Take the on / off bus tour from Grayline
2. St. James Brewery Tour
3. St. Stephens Green
4. Temple bar in the evening

DAY 2:

1. Trinity College, library, book of Kells
2. Dublin Castle

I was thinking about doing an evening pub / music tour. Any recommended tours?

Thanks again! 8-)

If you are at all interested in Irish history put Kilmainham Gaol on your list.

As you head from the Shelbourne to Trinity to see the Book of Kells, you pass the National Museum. Go in. good stuff there. No charge.

In Trinity, do not ignore the Long Room. Take a stroll around the college.

The long room is upstairs after the Book of Kells and is an old library and visually stunning (I prefer it to the Actual Book of Kells). When are you staying as I did not think the Shelbourne is open yet. I saw some pictures in the paper this last Sat of the renovation and it looks lovely. Well done you if you are here when it is open. Let us know what you think.

The Bus your will encompass most of the main sights. An obscure one also that I bring people to is St Muchens on Church Street. They have a tour and at the end they take you to the basement tombs which house 3 mummified bodies. One is believed to be a crusader and is almost seven foor another a nun and the last is supposedly a thief. Its very strange but fascinating with the tour.

Thanks so much for the feedback.

I am going in Mid-May. Spending some time in London as well.

The hotel is supposed to be open by then! Best part is, I used my Hilton Reward points...so it was basically free!

I will add the St. Michen's church and mummies to my day 2!

Thanks again!!! 8-)
