Dublin in Four Days and Hotel Suggestion

Hello friends...we are now considering Dublin around memorial day weekend with a group of friends. Is four days enough and does anyone have any hotel suggestions. This is all new territory to me and I have no clue about what might be centrally located and what areas are best. Also, would we be able to tour the countryside as well given the short stay? In terms of hotel we are looking for something in the $200 range.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Memorial Day Monday 27th of May. $200 being €155 (ish) if that is per person for 4 nights then the choice would be limited but Travelodge on St Stephens Green (good area option) would be a good option. If that is per Room per night then you have lots of options.

Personally we will be in Ennis (1/2 hour from Shannon)that weekend for the end of the Fledh Nua.

We will be there at the end of April, beginning of May and are bookd at Bushwells on Molesworth St. at St. Stephens Green. I always try to book with Booking.com as I like their site and in most instances rates are refundable. If non-refundable, rates are even better.

We are staying 3 nights but you might go to Fodor destinations and see if the schedule works for your group. I would also go to the forums and plug in dublin or dublin hotels and see the recommendations there.

We just returned from Ireland in September and although the Blooms hotel is very conveniently located, it was the loudest and worst nights sleep that I have ever encountered!

There is a nightclub in the hotel and it goes on until 6am!! So avoid this one if you can!

I suggest that whatever hotel you see, double check with Venere. They will have reviews and pricing. If you see something you like, check with the hotel first to see if they can't do better as to price, etc....

Try the Arlington, right on O'Connell bridge. It's about a 3 star, but perfectly comfortable with a good breakfast.

Mik:
we favor Stauntons-on-the-Green (across the road from St, Stephen's Green)..easy walk to almost everywhere in town....very comfortable, with rear window views of Ivea Park.I'll hunt up the web and post below (for rates)..good breakfast included.
