Dublin ID

As a visitor from America, what would I use in Dublin as a photo ID? Do they require it at most places?
I hope it's not my passport! That photo is awful!
Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

I was in Dublin for a couple of weeks two years ago and I was never asked for an ID. Of course, it may depend on your age and how many pubs you want to try.

In general, you will not need photo ID. If you look as if you might be under 18 and go into a pub you might be asked for some proof of age. A driving licence is generally acceptable.

Don't worry about your passport photo. It's a law of nature that passport photos are awful.

Thank you, Padraig. That makes me feel much better. :)

The general rule is that if you actually resemble your passport photo, you are too sick to travel.
