Dublin Hotels or B&B's
 

We will be in Dublin in early June. Would love to hear any recent reviews of mid range hotels or B&B's that represent good value and are within easy access of the main attractions. We will be coming into the city via train from the southwest and flying out later in the week. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

We like Cassidy's Hotel. A little far from the "main action" but that makes it quieter at night. It is close to the airport bus which makes it handy. If you haven't already booked, GoIreland.com is having a fantastic special for 2-night stays that include Dublin (and many other places).

La Stampa on Dawson Street. Walking distance to everything, and loved, loved, loved this hotel. Their bar serves killer cosmos and it's a few doors down from Cafe en Seine play on words)-- a bar that looks tiny from the outside, but is multi-leveled and just goes on and on -- go in early, walk around, have a drink!

We required lodgings with parking and prefer B&B's and we found an amazing house in Ballsbridge called Waterloo Lodge. We were driving from the South of Ireland on the M11 motorway and it's located on that side of the city center, it's real easy to walk downtown.

This place is clean, economical, 10 minute bus ride from downtown, great breakfast, very friendly staff.

Wouldn't recommend Cassidy's, purely because of its location. O'Connell Street is very dodgy after dark. I know the poster who recommended it may say that they saw no trouble, but as a Dublin native I would never recommend staying in that area.

Clients of ours stay in Trinity Lodge - www.trinitylodge.com - which has a good city-centre location is reasonable enough. D4 hotels - www.d4.com - can be good value and again the location is good - if a bit outside the main action.

Bewley's Hotel in Ballsbridge is also good - www.bewleyshotels.com/ballsbridge/. It's about a 30 minute walk from Grafton Street, but is also well serviced by bus routes.
