Dublin hotels - Early morning check-in usually possible?
Planning an Oct. trip driving around southern Ireland (flying from US to Dublin). I see many of the flights arrive DUB at 7:30 in the morning; would like to go straight from airport to hotel and check-in early before heading out to tour for the day.
Does anyone know if most hotels allow check-in this early and if so do they charge an extra fee? Thinking of The Morrison Hotel but have not booked yet. This question may be too general to answer! Thanks. |
Many Hotels will hold your baggage pre check in (which is generally about 2pm) Some Hotels have early check in but generally charge extra. You would have to email the individual hotel for information.

Hotels in general do not accept early checkins. Rooms have to be cleaned after the other guests have left.
However ask the hotel if you can leave your luggage in storage until a room is free. Or maybe the hotel is not fully occupied the night before and you could get into the room just after you arrive. Ask the hotel before booking what they can do for you. |
I always head to the hotel and IF my room is ready that's great. If they weren't totally booked up the night before your room might be ready and you can check in and it shouldn't cost any extra. Leave your bags in the room and head out for the day.
Most often though a room is not ready that early - so I'm prepared to just drop my suitcase. If it is ready -- that's a bonus. |
It depends on the occupancy level the previous night but if a room ready is my experience is that a hotel will allow early check-in without additional charge. It may help if you have Hilton HHonors elite status but it's never a guarantee.

Most hotels will not have rooms ready then - so it's your choice if you want to pay for the previous night. they will often let you check in early IF they do have an open room.
they will always let you drop your bags off. |
