N... we stayed at Stephens on the Green, on the south side of the green, it was grand and within walking of Trinity, the National Museum, the walking and shopping district. It was great. I love that you admit to being a tourist and wanting touristy stuff!

We recently stayed at Trinity Lodge. It is in the city center. Short walk to Grafton street. We would stay there again. The rate was 135 Euros per night.

I don't know your price range, but the Merrion if VERY nice, but on the expensive side. About a 5 min. walk to town. Quiet area.
