Dublin hotel info?
 

After searching for several days my husband and I were able to find a hotel that was not book up at the end of October and that accepts vouchers. We did not know there is a marathon going on at the end of October. The only concern I have is I can't seem to find much information about the hotel. Has anyone ever stayed at the Druys hotel? I would to who some feedback positive or negative about the hotel before we book. Is it a good location and how is the qualitity of hotel? I know it wont be the Ritz but at least is it clean?<BR><BR>

i think the one you are looking for is Jurys Hotel..big, cheap (relatively) and functional..no character but Dublin's getting like any other city in europe now anyway

I'm guessing you mean Jury's also. I stayed at Jury's Christchurch, which is just west of Dublin Castle. Nothing fancy but very comfortable. Compared to hotels in the same price range in London, it was fit for a Prince. It was very clean and had a nice pub downstairs. The location is pretty good.<BR><BR>I'm not sure how long you plan to stay in Dublin, but two days is probably plenty. It's really just a big, dirty city and if you want to see cool cathedrals, go to York in England. The countryside in Ireland is spectacular and you get a better feel for the country. Most of the people living in the smaller towns that I talked to didn't seem to think much of Dublin or Cork either.<BR><BR>By the way, we did the Zozimus ghost tour, which was pretty fun and amuzing and I have to say, my best memory of the stay in Dublin despite passing a kid shooting up on the sidewalk. Ah, ain't life in the big cities grand.<BR><BR>Bill

Thanks for everyones replys but the Hotel is called Drurys Court hotel and it is located off of Grafton Street. Has anyone ever heard of it?

This certainly looks like one I would trust.<BR><BR>If you're coming in from Dublin Airport, The Aircoach will drop you at Dame St and Trinity College, probably about a 10 minute walk but the driver will tell you 3 minutes. It cost E6.00 pp for the bus. A cab will cost about E25.00.<BR><BR>Hope this helps.<BR><BR>Bill

Thanks to everyone who replied to my questions. It was very helpful. But I have one more question. The hotel said there is a parking garage nearby, does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to park a car there? Bill you might be of some help on this one. Once again thanks.

Jen:<BR><BR>I would suggest not renting a car while you are in Dublin. The traffic isn't a whole lot of fun and you can walk almost everywhere you might want to go in the city center. If you are planning to travel outside the city, you can either:<BR>a. head back to the airport and rent a car there (probably my choice)<BR>b. rent a car in the city center and find your way out of town (doable, but will be pretty "exciting" if this is your first opportuninty to drive on the left)<BR>c. take a tour with any of a number of tour companies.<BR><BR>Parking in the city center is not very cheap and virtually everyone will tell you that you don't need a car while you are there. It is also much more expensive to stay in the city, so if you are going outside the city, stay outside the city. There are enormous numbers of B&Bs with coastal views and other such and you will love it. I stayed at a B&B in Skerries called "The Reefs" and the had a room available for me by 11:00 so that my wife and I could take a quick nap before heading out. It looked out on the Irish Sea and despite being on the east coast, thanks to some peculiar angle, I was able to watch the sun set behind the hills and over the water.
