Dublin hotel
I'm looking for a moderate priced hotel in Dublin for 4 nights at the end of august. A friend recommended Longfields. I'd like something that is historic and not too large, looking to spend about $150 a night! Thanks

I don't know if it is in your price range but we really enjoyed the staff and rooms at Stauntons on the Green. Great locale and staff.

We loved Bewley's Hotel in Ballsbridge. It's a great looking former Masonic Temple. The hotel isn't opulent but the rooms are large and clean and there's a great lounge downstairs for coffee in the morning.

Bewley's is a good call. It meets the brief on price and history. "Not too large" is an imprecise brief.

I'm glad to find this thread, as we'll be staying in Bewley's Ballsbridge when we take our first trip to Ireland next spring. Any favorite pubs nearby?

It's mostly in a residential area but there's a posh chain hotel (something Hyatt-like) nearby and there are nice bars there. There's also a local shopping street with some pubs and restaurants, if I remember correctly.
We explored there a bit but mostly hopped on the local bus or walked into the centre of town. |
hdm,
Thanks! I'm sure we'll spend our days in central Dublin, but I imagine we'll go back to Ballsbridge at least a couple of evenings. Good to know about the pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area. Do you remember how late the bus runs? Sandy |
I'm sorry, Sandy, I don't. We probably wore ourselves out during the day and took a cab back to the hotel at night.
