Dublin - B&B or small hotel recommendations?

Hi all,
My husband and I are going to Ireland next May and want to go 2-3 days early before joining up with the group in Dublin. I've looked a few places in Dublin, for instance the Eliza Lodge, and wanted to hear from any of you who might have a recommendation for a nice, medium range hotel (2-3 star). We'd like to be in the heart of the city but we don't mind walking or taking transport if someone has a great recommendation for something a little farther afield. All suggestions welcomed. Thanks!

Heave a look at www.irishtourism.com and click on Dublin hotels. Please note that the areas start with 1 e.g. Dublin 1 is the center of the city and the higher the number the further out you are e.g. Dublin 22 would be way out.
Enjoy agus failte go Eireann.

Mercer Hotel (www.mercerhotel.ie/) was very satisfactory for us in October '04.
Centrally located, yet on a quiet side street. Clean, comfortable, and a pleasant staff -- breakfast included.

Through a web discount site (sorry, I don't recall which one), I got a very good rate, too.

Good luck, and have a grand trip!

Thanks to you all. I'll check out the recommendations. I greatly appreciate the input.

I had to book a hotel last minute today for a colleague here in Dublin. I bookes Buswells Hotel on Molesworth street for a rate of €130.00. Its very central i.e. 5 mins to Grafton street and St Stephens green, across from the Dail (govt buildings) and renovated recently. I thinks its a good location.

I found some really good deals on
www.hotel-ireland.com

The website is easy to use, and I got a 60% discount at the 4* St Stephens Green Hotel in December - 114 €uros a night for a twin room. There were pretty good discounts at most of the hotels, and there are reviews too.

Have a good trip.

I would recommend the Mont Clare Hotel, its a nice little hotel in the centre, but a bit away from the noise and the madding crowd, its in a nice area of the city centre, amongst some lovely georgian buildings, check out the website. www.mercerhotel.ie

Another suggestion: Ditch Dublin city and settle in nearby Dun Laoghaire (Dun Leary). It's just a DART ride away and it's close enough to the city (10 minutes by DART) that you can be there pretty much all you want, but in a quite little town-like suburb by the sea.

We stayed at the Seaview House and Mrs. Kane was like our temporary Irish grandmother.
