Can anyone recommend a nice b&b near Dublin convenient to public xport for less than an arm & a leg?

Exactly how much is "less than an arm and a leg"? What is your budget? Are you a single traveler or going with another person? How long will you be in Dublin? Have you looked at hostels?

Hello Irish Eyes. Thanks for your response. We're 2 couples traveling together. We're trying to get by for the least we can. We don't have a big budget, but we don't want a "cheap" place. A nice b&b out of town, but convenient to public xport downtown. Thought maybe someone had blazed the trail before us and could tell us about a place they liked. Wife & I were in Ireland in 1994, when the $ equivalent for a night for the 2 of us in a nice b&b was about $40. Oh for the days of yore. I've tried to find a place in the city, but can't find anything less than 120 Euros for a couple that sounded like we would be happy in. Only staying near Dublin for a couple of nights, then off southward.

This past March, my daughter and I stayed at Willow House in Drumcondra (a northern neighborhood). It's right on the bus line into the city centre. We were very happy with it. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Can't tell you how the breakfasts are 'cause I had an early flight out that next morning. Had we had breakfast, it would have been €40 per person.

We stayed at Drynam House (www.drynamhouse.com) in Swords. It was very clean, had a nice breakfast, reasonable (E30-34 pp/pn) and was a 5 minute walk to Swords and/or the bus stop. She told me that it was a 5 minute drive to the airport to return our rental car...and it only took 7 minutes. One thing to note about buses in Ireland. If you are standing there waiting and they keep passing you by, hold out your hand. That's their sign that you need them to stop.

Take a look at Abberley House, http://www.abberleyhouse.ie/, its about a 15- 20 minute leisurely walk to town center. The last time I stayed there I paid 40 euro and that included breakfast.

I would suggest checking out Bed and breakfasts in Clontarf, Dublin 3. There are a number of them on the seafront and there is a very good bus service into town - about 20 minutes journey.
