Dublin area itinerary suggestions needed
We are planning on visiting Dublin in April. We could use some suggestions as to what not to miss -- all the books seem to stress just scenery and I know my partner will be bored after a few days if that's it. Your suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Cath,

In Dublin itself, Kilmainham Gaol is a
wonderful museum of Irish political history. It's the jail where leaders of
the Easter Rebellion were held and executed and where many other Irish political prisoners were held.

St. Michan's is an old church which has
a crypt with preserved bodies including
that of a crusader. It's very close to the Brazen Head, the oldest pub in Europe (I think). There are various museums of history and art. I particularly liked the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery, near the Garden of Remembrance. Dublin is filled with music and you'll have the opportunity to listen to virtually any kind of music you want to hear, including street musicians playing classical music.

Outside of Dublin, Glendalough and Powers Court are both very interesting.
And just west of Dublin is Newgrange, with ruins older than Stonehenge.
So don't worry about being bored.

I would advise you to buy a good travel guide or get one from the library and do some research to get the most out of Dublin and the area around it.

Have a great trip.
Kathleen
