Dublin Airport to Galway
We are wanting to go straight from the Dublin Airport to spend a few days in Galway. We are arriving early from the US and it has been our experience that the hotels are never ready for checkin until the afternoon, so we just wander a city until the room is ready. We thought we might just go for it and go on to Galway..since we we are going the next day anyway. Whats the quickest way and least complicated way to get to Galway from the airport. Is there a rail station from the airport? What Galway station would we want for the hotels? Havent booked that yet..but we are trying to plan our itinerary..thank so much!

Just curious, and it may already be too late, but if your goal is Galway, why not fly into Shannon? That would get you a lot closer.
Alternatively, you can find a bus/coach to take you to a rail station, then take the train to Galway.

The answer to this question in Europe is ALWAYS to go to the airport website
If I give you the URL with the answer www.dublinairport.com/to-and-from/by-bus/, (look for both Citylink AND Gobus.IE) will you enlighten me on something?
Do airports in your country not have websites, or do they just have websites without public transport information?
I'm not getting at you: I'm just puzzled how many of your fellow citizens seem reluctant to go to the website first.

If flying into Shannon is not an option, you have direct bus connections from Dublin airport to Galway with Citylink coaches. No need to go downtown and change there for bus or trains.

The bus station in Galway is in the centre (right beside the rail station) and there are quite a few hotels close by.

Forget the train: you'd have to get a bus from Dublin airport to Heuston Station, before you get the train.
There are three bus companies that run Dublin Airport to Galway services (Bus Eireann, CityLink and GoBus). Links to the appropriate page on each of their website are on: /www.irishtransport.info/2008/12/airport-transfers-dublin-to-various.html
GoBus is best if you want to get there fast: Bus Eireann if you want the "scenic" (slow!) trip through dozens of towns and villages.

I took the train from Dublin to Galway and it was a very pleasant 3-hr journey. Check the website for train departure times.
At the Dublin airport, buy a bus ticket to Heuston Station, buy the ticket for Galway there and you're off.
You can rest after the flight and keep traveling at the same time!
