Dublin Airport---3 hrs. or 2 hrs?

When returning to the USA from Dublin, do you need to be at the airport 3 hrs. or is 2 hrs. ahead of time enough?

Also, is there any shopping at the airport? I tend to leave things until the end, and then pick up some stuff at the airport. For example, Amsterdam is a great last minute shopping airport.

Now that we are clearing Immigration and Customs in Ireland, we will probably need more time. When you get there initially (unless you are open-jawing into Shannon), why not ask some knowledgeable person? The website suggests 90 minutes but I think that is unreasonable given all that needs doing. Of course you would add time to return the rental car if that applies.

Yes, there is shopping http://www.dublinairport.com/gns/sho.../overview.aspx

There is some shopping in the airport, souvenirs and assorted dutyfree stuff but not nearly as much as you'd find in a major international one like JFK or Atlanta. If you're looking for some quick last minute "I was in Ireland" gifts then it's ok.

I'd give it 3 hours. I've gotten through in less time but the crowds can be large and like jaja said you co through US customs while still in Ireland.

We have a new Terminal 2 now, dealing with the US flights and other Aer Lingus flights, so it's less congested than it used to be. I would go for 2 hours, but no less...
