Dublin accommodation--PLEASE help
Re: Dublin.
A friend and i willbe in Dublin later this month. We are not partiers (women in late 30s), but we will enjoy the pub scene as well as the cultural aspects of town. If you were to choose, which would you and why: http://graftonguesthouse.com/wordpress/rooms/ http://www.kilronanhouse.com/ http://townhouseofdublin.com/find_us.html http://www.kingfisherdublin.com/ Or, more importantly, is there anything I should consider regarding not booking one of them vs the other? If you have personal experience, all the better! Thank you. |
PS We will be there 3 nights and will NOT have a car.
Thank you! |
Palindroma:
On two most recent Dubin visits we found Staunton's-on-the-Green to be perfect for us. Across the road from St. Stephen's Green...easy walk to many points of interest, pubs, etc. Latest rates are less than €90. stu http://stauntonsonthegreendublin.h-rez.com/ |
Hi Palimdrome, I've never stayed in any of them but the townhouse looks nearest to the Trinity College/Temple Bar area, while the Kilronan is probably situated a LITTLE further away but in a prettier and possibly quieter area. The Kingfisher is in Parnell St, also near but again not as attractive an area. Grafton Guesthouse is also central but its a fairly busy probably noisy street. Its hard to say which is best, - anywhere so near city center could be noisy but without a car its your best option. Hope you have a lovely time!

never stayed in any of them, they are all central but the last 2 are in a slightly seedier and probably noisy area. George's street is very central but I would be afraid a bit noisy. Kilronan is also just on the street but at least it's not such a busy street and the area although at the edge of the centre rather than right in the middle of it is a little bit more genteel. Kilronan would be my choice.

Stayed at Kilronan House in 2003. Would not stay there again.

None of your options would particularly excite.
Townhouse and Kingfisher are both in less than wonderful locations. The Georges St location is central but likely to be noisy. Adelaide Rd, where Kilronan House appears to be located, would be quieter. Some hotels offer very competitive prices, little more than guesthouses though some like D4 hotel are not as close to the city centre. |
