Hi,<BR><BR>I am planning a trip to Dublin and have three questions. First, I may come in on a Sunday or a Monday and I'm curious...is the city open for touring, etc. on Sundays or would I be better off just to wait until Monday? Second, how long a stay is needed to see the sites of the city? Third, I'll be coming in via the Heuston train station. Does anyone know any nice but reasonable lodgings convenient to the station?<BR><BR>Thanks!

Dublin has a nice tourist bus. Your fare is good for all day and you can get off at any stop and then back on again. It makes aaalot of stops, the most popular being Trinity College and Guiness brewery

Hello, although you will be coming in via hueston station, I would not recommend staying close to it. The city is only 5 mins on the public bus (which leaves the station every few minutes) or a cab will cost you about 4 euro into the heart of the city. There are plenty of hotels to choose from there. <BR>The guiness brewery will be closed on Sunday but there are still open top bus tours of the city available of sundays. I think 3 days in Dublin is plenty. Then you should go back to hueston station and get the train to Galway. This is the most beautiful city in Ireland. If you are flying home from Dublin airport, you can get a bus from galway that will take you right into Dublin Airport. Hope you enjoy your trip.

About the amount of time to spend in Dublin. We happen to prefer the Irish countyside to the city but were able to see all the major sights in one day as everything was walkable (we never needed a bus). Our list included: Bank of Ireland, General Post Office, Dublin Castle, Dublivina at Christ Church (good exhibit), Book of Kells and Library (impressive) at Trinity College, No 29 (delightful historic house, walk around Temple Bar area and the park. We went on a Sunday and everything but the shops and pubs in Temple Bar was open.

I forgot to add this to my previous post. We really enjoyed Newgrange. Perhaps there is a bus from Dublin for a day trip. Since we drove, we stopped there on the way to Dublin.

I spent 5 days in Dublin and didn't finish! The best thing I did was take the walking tour that starts at Trinity College. I finally understand the whole Northern Ireland thing now. <BR><BR>Great architecture. Great parks. Great food. Easy to get around without constantly looking at a map. I can't wait to go back.<BR><BR>We rented a car on Sunday and drove down the southeast coast. When we got back Sunday night, very few restaurants/pubs were open.

Meg, I grew up in Northern Ireland. If you understand the whole thing, I'd wish you'd explain it to me.
