Dry Cleaners in Paris
 

Do dry cleaners in Paris generally do 24 hour turnaround for cleaning? What is the normal time it takes to get clothes dry cleaned? Any idea of the approximate cost to dry clean pants? Thanks

My experience with blanchisseries in France has been that they usually take a few days and cost an arm and a leg. I haven't used one in Paris in years, though - maybe it's faster in the big city.

Trying our best, but balancing the heat in this old house is a challenge - bottom floor's like an igloo; top floor's steaming hot, despite closing off vents, turning the ceiling fans clockwise, etc. We just shed layers as we ascend and put them back on as we descend!

Hi-- there is a quick inexpensive chain in Paris called 5 a 5 (there's one on the rue Saint Antoine a couple of blocks from the Saint Paul metro, if that's near you). Maybe not for the finest garments, but they did a perfectly fine job on my coat, pants, etc.

A blanchisserie is a laundry, although most of them seem to do dry cleaning, also (which will be called nettoyage a sec or "pressing" is used a lot for some reason, and often is on the outside of the shop, they often call a dry cleaner that). I think a pair of pants would be about 6 to 10 euro, don't know about 24 hrs. I think colonna is referring to the chain "5 a sec" not 5 a 5.

We used to live in an old house so my sympathies on the heating situation.

For future reference the 5 a Sec cleaners is a chain that I have seen in many places around Paris - a pair of pants cost about 4 euros to dryclean.

Fast service is more expensive than "normal" service of course.
