Drivng from Bordeaux to Paris near CDG
 

Hi,
On Tuesday 2nd of August I am driving from Bordeaux to Paris.
I need help. we are staying in Roissy en France in Paris near CDG and i want to get there by avoiding the worst of the traffic.
Can anyone recommend the best time to approach Paris.
I was going to leave Bordeaux at 10a.m and then stop off/or not and get to Paris at 4pm / or 8pm.
Any recommendations please.

Why are you driving? Take the TGV.

Traffic is never a problem on Sunday morning.

I agree with St Cirq and Ira... why bother to drive at all if all you'll see is the autoroute and you have no plans to visit anything along the way.

Normally, there is no probem changing a car drop-off location.

I've driven to Paris and have taken the TGV from the south and southwest of France. Taking the TGV is more than preferable. You can take it into CDG and easily get a cab to any nearby destination.

And if you're staying at a hotel in Roissy, there is no doubt a hotel shuttle from CDG.

Another vote for the train - its a long boring drive!

In response to your question, I think I would opt for the later approach into Roissy - 8pm that is. You can skirt Paris and come from the northwest to try to avoid some of the traffic but you will still likely hit some (traffic) around the 4pm time frame. Most map sites (Michelin and Map quest, etc.) will have you come in from the south and east - so likely to be heavy traffic that way at 4pm. I think it would be easier to come in around 8pm - traffic wise. (That way you can follow the easiest directions -- or what you consider to be the easiest directions).

Now to get back on the band wagon, take the train instead if you can Good luck either way.
