Driving, where to get maps?
 

hi, does anyone have any ideas were i can get maps for italy. WE are flying into milan and then going to Como and later driving to a very small town (Cavasso Nouvo) then to veince,. i WOULD REALLY LIKE TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A MAP AND some instructions ( in english would be heaven. Thanks.

Generally, you can find good maps at big bookstores like Barnes & Noble or Borders. It's a matter of personal choice whether you'd prefer an atlas or a folding map. Michelin and Hallweg (wag?) are both good. You'll find an excellent selection of good maps - - and cheaper at gas stations on every autostrada in Italy. I always get maps at Barnes and Noble before taking trips.<BR>

I have had good luck, particularly for city maps, by contacting One Map Place, www.onemapplace.com, in Dallas. I email the boss and tell him in detail what I want and wait for his suggestions. So far I have not been disappointed. The store carries a complete line of European roadmaps.<BR>I have built a small collection of maps for Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and other places. <BR>

I ordered the 3 volume Touring Club Italia road atlas (Stradale Atlante)from Internetbookshop.it. It comes with a cd rom - you can key in your begin and end towns and it maps out the route. I love it. You need to read Italian to order it online from the website. Postage wasn't cheap to the US, but it arrived quickly (fedex) and all in all with the price plus postage I think it was a good buy. Good luck!

I just bought a Michelin 235 France Midi-Pyrenees map there that I couldn't find in my bookstores. Just give Judy Henderson and staff your destination and they'll find the right maps for you. The detailed driving directions show that one has to take S13, from Conegliano to Sacille, and then find one's way through Fiaschetti, Malnisio and Montereale into S251 past Maniago, into S464 and Cavasso. The printablem iterative map (relative to destination city) shows with details the last portion of the trip.
