Driving Valle Maggia & Valle Verzasca
I'm wondering what size of vehicle to rent in order to see both of these valleys ie: rugged terrain, paved? Will economy car be fine or do I need a 4X4
As well what are the must see places along the way?
Thanx in advance,,, 13 more sleeps to go

Cars: As long as there isn't any snow on the roads, any car will do. The roads are paved but are sometimes very curvy and go uphill.
Valle Verzasca:

Mergoscia: Stop at the dam and take a walk over it.
Corippo: an old stone village protected under Switzerland's heritage program. Park outside the village.
Lavertezzo: Stop and walk over the old stone bridge that crosses the river. Nice view of the river and its water and boulders.
Sonogno: A nice village at the end of the valley. My friend, Carmen from Canada, runs the sport restaurant and ice rink. Stop by and for a nice conversation. Everyone in the village knows her.
Valle Maggia:
Bosco Gurin:
An old German-speaking village at the end of the valley. Nice wooden buildings. The road leading you to the end of the valley is curvy and goes through nice old villages.

Bavona Valley: A beautiful green valley dotted with very small stone villages. It has a magical feeling about it because of it's isolation and lack of electricity. Not many tourists go there.

We took the Swiss postal bus from Locarno up the Valle Verzasca to Sonogno. The buses in Switzerland are very modern and comfortable and penetrate deeply into the mountains.
On the way back, we stopped in Corippo. It was an easy walk across the bridge and along the river into town. A car can turn around in the main square, but that's all the car access in Corippo.
