Driving to Dordogne

Our family is driving to the Dordogne from Paris in July. Any suggestions on a good place to stop for a short break during the drive? We like to picnic, how about a place where we could pick up a few things and eat outside?

Thanks.

Since Chateauroux is about halfway to the Dordogne, I'd suggest you stop there and have your picnic by the lake at the Ecorparc de Belle-Isle or along the river Indre somewhere.

Thanks so much. It sounds great.

Sorry, that should have been Ecoparc (as in ecology), not Ecorparc

Another notion would be near or in the picturesque town of Gargilesse-Dampierre that sits above the River Creuse. Take exit 19.

Thanks to both.
