driving times in Germany

I would like to drive from Rothenberg to Neuschwanstein to see Ludwig's castle in the morning....amd then drive from the castle to Dauchau to visit in the afternoon. Can this be reasonably done? How long will the two drives be? Do we have to be at the castle by a certain time to get tickets? How late is Dachau open for visitors on a Tuesday in July?

Thank you.....dcdo

Look at www.mappy.fr and it will give the details you need. As far as the visiting hours at Dachau, you'll have to visit their site, if one is available.

Dachau concentration camp memorial is open 9-5 from tuesday thru sunday.
I think you want to spent at least 2 hours there.

When you calculate 3hrs for Neuschwanstein (I think you want to reserve tickets online), a possible itinerary could look like this:

0700-
0930 drive Rothenburg odT - Neuschwanstein
0930 pick up reserved tickets at central ticket booth
1000-
1300 Neuschwanstein/Hohenschwangau? + some lunch
1300-
1500 drive Neuschwanstein-Dachau
1500
1700 visit memorial site in Dachau

Lots of driving. Check viamichelin.com for details.
The drive from Rothenburg to Neuschwanstein is not a big deal since it's mostly a straight shot south on motorway 7, with few speed limits.
Neuschwanstein - Dachau is more than half on 2-lane highways which is a bit harder to calculate.

Whether this whole trip is reasonable is not for me to decide. I would not do it, though.
