Can anyone tell me the approximate driving time between Strasbourg, France and Heidelberg, Germany? Is it too far for a day trip? Is it an easy drive? I tried to get this info on the website euroshell.com, but they showed it as 7-1/2 hours with Heidelberg north of Berlin! Obviously, there's a glitch in their program! Thanks.

and click on route planning, I usually use them for route planning, but have also used Euroshell with no problems myself. I don't think it would take more than 3-4 hours to drive from Heidelberg to Strasbourg, maybe less.

Hi Susan,

I drove from Heidelberg to Freiburg this past summer and it took me about 2 hours. Strasbourg to HD should take you just about an hour and half. It's an easy drive, just have to be aware of the traffic and take that into consideration when figuring driving time. Which city are you 'daytripping' in?

Thanks for quick responses. Stacey, although our plans are not firm at this point, my thought was to stay in Strasbourg, so Heidelberg would be the day trip (as well as some others in France in the area).

I tried on RAC and it only takes 1.5hrs according to them, so I guess it is worth a day trip. It is a beautiful city. The Christmas market is especially good if you are going that time of year. My guess was a little out, maybe I just drive too slowly!

If Heidelberg is only 1-1/2 hour from Strasbourg, I feel it's certainly close enough for a day trip. Stacey, Freiburg was also one I was looking at. What did you like about it? Thanks.
