Thanks

Hi

Have you gone to www.viamichelin.com?

Garynfla,

It's about two and a half hours, depending on traffic.

I have heard that the traffic can be a killer driving to the AC. Is there a particular time of day that is better or worse? We'll be there at the beginning of July and are deciding whether to stay in Ravello, Praiano, or Positano.

Hi Jun,

Do you really want a car on the AC?

Where will you be coming from?

We drove to Sorrento from Rome at the end of June, a couple of years ago. Highway traffic was fine, probably about two hours to the exit for the peninsula. Then the traffic was bumper to bumper all the way through to Sorrento. It was late afternoon so we may have run into more traffic then you will going earlier.

But it wasn't unpleasant. Driving slowly gave us a chance to really look around at the scenery and the windows of the shops in town.

If I were staying in Ravello I would stay on the highway and go north to Ravello at Salerno.

Traffic in the summer can be a nightmare, although weekends are the worst. If you don't absolutely need a car for travels elsewhere in Italy, I'd rely on public transportation ( SITA bus, boat, train). Good luck!
