Budman, there is a great info from Slow Travelers on all the different places to spend your last night in Italy if you are leaving from FCO. That is how I decided to leave from Orvieto.

InMiami, thanks, but Orvieto is too far. We're staying there our first night coming in, but going out, we have a 9:30am flight and have to turn in the rental car, so I want to be at the rental agency at 7:00.
I didn't find anything interesting at Fiumicino. I'm looking at Frascati, Ostia Antica, and Tivoli which are within 3/4 to 1 hour away. Any personal experiences out there? I'll check slowtrav again.

That site gives some towns close to FCO including Ostia Antica and a review of the pros and cons for staying there. If I had that early a flight I would stay in a part of Rome that is close to the airport but also a cab ride from the center of town.
