Driving in Spain

I keep reading that I am supposed to have reflective vests and road triangles in my rental in case of a breakdown. Subject to fine if police come along and I don't have them. Is this accurate? I've tried to get answer from car rental company but can't reach a human. Grrrrr. Hoping fellow travelers can help. Regards.

Rental car companies will properly equip their cars for driving in Spain.

Thank you!

rental companies will provide that, it's the law and if they don't then don't drive it, insist on them being provided, it's the law.

Check your car before you drive off. Make sure there is one reflective vest per person in the vehicle and that they are where you can reach them without having to get out of the car.
It should also have a sticker to allow you into low emission zones in Spain.

I was pulled over a few years back for driving over a worn out white line. First thing they did was check the basics like reflective gillet, spare bulbs in the glove compartment etc etc just in case they could ratchet up the fine.

IIRC you also need spare glasses.

Yes you do. If you need glasses to drive you must carry a spare pair with the right prescription. Same in some other European countries.
Good thinking Traveler_Nick.

The chance they check whether you have them or not is minimal. Specialy now that they are required no more in highways:

Again, thank you all for responding.

Dear, It is no longer mandatory to carry triangles in the car. In any case, from what I've seen (I've driven through many countries) it is that in Spain peolpe drive better than in the vast majority.
