Driving in Northern France

We are planning to rent a car and travel in northern France in October, Possibly Amiens, Rouen, Rheims, and them up to Brugges and Brussels. Any suggestions?

Ellie, please post how your trip goes when you get home. We will be taking a very similair route in December (except that we are going as far as Amsterdam, then hitting Brussels on the way back.) I'd love to hear any advice, pros & cons, you wight have. Thanks!
Cheryl
We did a driving tour in 1999 from Amsterdam through Belgium visiting the abbeys which produce the best beers in Belgium overnighting in Antwerp, Ghent, Brugges, Brussels, Lille, Duoai, Senlis all the way to Paris. The landscape was mostly flat but the towns are jewels except for Duoai. Meeting the locals was the best part since they are friendly & informal, more so in the Flemish/Dutch areas. I would reccomend avoiding the freeways to get the flavor of the countryside & villages.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have heard that the traffic can be congested in this area of Europe. Do you think going in October will help with this?

I don't think that traffic congestion is a reason to pick October over any other month.

October is a pretty nice month for many parts of Europe. September and June are better.
