Driving in Italy - Where to Return Car?

We will be renting a car in Florence and driving throught Tuscany for a week. Then continuing to Positano. Would it be better to drop the car in Naples or around Rome in take the train to Naples? How are the roads in that area?

Thanks, Mike

A car will come in handy to see the Amalfi coast....

Mike - I would avoid dropping it in Naples. If you want to drive most of the way, Sorrento would be an easier drop-off.

Otherwise ... have you considered dropping it Orvieto or somewhere north of Rome to avoid driving into Rome?

Why not drop in Sorrento? The drive is easy and you are :20 from Positano.

Thank you everyone for your responses. The drive from Montalcino to Sorrento is an easy one? correct? Looks like about five hours?
