Where can I get information on the international road signs? We are driving through Germany and France.

Donna, how wise of you to be concerned. We drove in Germany and Austria for two weeks last summer without being able to understand many of the signs. It's a miracle we didn't cause some accidents by driving in pedestrian only zones, etc. Duh...when we arrived in Frankfurt and picked up our rental, I thought that surely a brochure on the international signs would be furnished...never found one...however, upon our return home, I asked someone on this forum about it and was given a good URL. If no one else comes across with one, I'll try to find where I saved this one...you definitely need it... <BR>

Donna, <BR>Check the website: www.ideamerge.com/motoeuropa <BR>You'll find both a narrative explaining, for example, the significance of lane striping (yellow vs. white, single vs. double lines, etc.)as well as where to find street signs in cities (on buildings, not street corners) and images of all the various road signs. There are a wealth of links to driving related items, as well.

We bought a Michelin Europe road atlas which had a lot of the signs. It is spiral bound so it was good for the 6 countries we were visiting. It also has driving requirements, (age, alcohol tolerance, etc.) In addition, in 1997, the plazas on the autobahn also had brochures on the road signs.
