We are driving from Sicily to south eastern Italy and would like to go through Altamura on route to Bari. Has anyone driven in this area? Does Altamura have any bed and breakfasts?

We drove all around the area last summer. <BR>I would recommend staying in Matera <BR>instead of Altamura. Matera is the home of the Sassi and is a UNESCO heritage site. If you are there around July 2nd <BR>there is a great festival. <BR>We stayed at the Hotel Sassi, acytually cut out of part of the Sassi. Small hotel, cheap, centrally located, unusual,and friendly. <BR>If you have never been to Matera, I would urge you to visit.
