Driving from Seville to Algarve

Does anyone know how long it should take to drive from Seville to the Algarve in Portugal? And are the roads decent or would it be a real chore?

I took the direct bus from Lagos to Sevilla and it took about 5 hours. The roads seemed fine and I'm sure with a car the time will be even less. I did drive in Spain from Algeciras along the Costa del Sol to Granada and the roads were a pleasure. Very clear signs, clean, smooth roads, plenty of gas, etc. Definitely go for the rental car!! If I could do it over (Spain and Portugal) I would definitely rent a car the whole time.

We took a non-stop bus from Tavira to Seville and it was great. It took about 2 1/2 hrs. and it was a nice highway all the way. Great views of the sunflowers also!

Dear Ruth,
I'm American and live in Portugal. The drive from Seville to the Algarve is a breeze. The roads are just fine. Depending on what part of the Algarve you are going to will determine how long the trip takes. I would say it will average you about 3-4 hours. It also depends on if you stop along the way. You shouldn't have any problems. If I can help with more info, feel free to email me directly. Have a nice trip- ENJOY PORTUGAL!
Amy
