DRiving from Prague to Budapest

I was wondering how long the drive is and is it difficult if you do not know the language?

Hi,
not difficult 5 hours of total motorway. You have to buy tickets at a pfs, but not expnesive
Go for it. Quite easy.
Stop at Panonhalma in Hungary at the 1000 old monastry...

Thanks for the reply. Can you explain what kind of tickets you mean and what is a pfs-and thanks for lthe tip of where to stop

hi there,
PFS is a petrol filling station where you can buy stickers for the motorway.
Prices app. 4Eur Czech, 3,5Eur Slovakia and 8 in Hungary(more motorway)
Regardless of the extra cost of the toll I would still go with that as it is fast and safer.
One more tip:
buy petrol in Slovakia as it is the cheapest out of the 3 countries (10% saving compared to Hungary)
If you need help let me know.

Hi, Michelezr!

I find driving in those countries relatively easy and I don't speak any Czech or Hungarian. Their highways are in excellent condition, better than some of the roads here in California.

What Tamas means by "tickets" are I believe the highway tax stickers. You get one immediately upon crossing the border and place the sticker on the windshield. Then, off you go!

Visit the castles and smaller towns along the way. They are so beautifully pristine!

Have a great trip! :)
