Driving from Paris to le Mont Saint Michel
If you were driving to le Mont Saint Michel from Paris first and THEN going back UP through Normandy to Paris, what road would you take?
That would depend on whether you want to do sightseeing along the way--and if so, just what.
It would depend on how much time I had, but I'd probably take a little dip south and go to Chartres on the way, then through Alençon to see the lacemakers, and Argentan and Avranches, and then when I was ready for the Normandy leg go north to St-Malo and Caen/Bayeux.
Just keep in mind that St. Malo is west of MSM and that the rest of Normandy is east and north of it.
Oh, thank you, Michael. I meant St-Lo, mut typed St-Malo. Well, she might want to visit St-Malo, too, but it's definitely not on the short route to Normandy!

Dear Underhill,
We only want to get to le Mont Saint Michel in time to enjoy it. That's where we're spending the night. Leaving Paris in the morning will put us on the road around nine, I think. I don't see any big freeway going straight down there. |
Nope--no direct autoroute for the most part. But have you tried viamichelin.com and mappy.com for various routes? You can plug in various factors and then get an itinerary with approximate driving times.
I went to the Michelin site and it was quite helpful in that the amount of time is given, as well.
Thanks for the tip. |
