driving from Paris to Brussels/Brugge

Hi everyone! My father and I are doing our annual father/daughter fling in December. We will be driving from Paris via the Champagne region to Brussels and Brugge and then back to Paris. We have 10 days (4 in Paris and 10 on the road)and would love to know of the unique things to do or see. We have done this before through the Loire and just love taking the back roads and stopping wherever looks interesting. I know of the champagne houses in Epernay and I thought I would treat him to a night in a beautiful Chateau and a delicious dinner. Any thoughts? Would love to hear some stories from fellow travlers. Merci in advance!

I'll leave Champagne to any other authors. The weather can be a little dull in the area that time of year. Brugge is very nice. Might be interesting to add Luxemburg city and even Trier to possibles. if going East. If going West of the line look at Honfleur and the Normandy area

We are doing a similar trip next week. We are looking forward to staying at Villa Eugene in Epernay..and Auberge du Frogeron in Seclin (near Lille) The place in Seclin has a fantastic restaurant on site ( I hope). We're staying at Number 11 in Brugge. Hope you have a great time with your dad.

If you or your father is interested in WWI history, then I'd suggest Leper and Passiondale, which are not far from Brugge. This is the vicinity of the famous "salient". Over the course of the war something on the order of 250,000 young Brits died here, probably that many or more Germans. I was very moved by a visit.

From the Champagne area I would go to Brussels via the Meuse valley, even if it means a slight detour.
