Divert to Selinunte---best Greek ruins in Italy.
We did that route in reverse in 2005.

toledodd,

I also visited Selinute (inspired by bob's TR) and really enjoyed it. It's relatively uncrowded, a large open site. You can actually walk in the one temple that remains standing and the views to the sea are beautiful.

Be sure to either walk or drive out to the acropolis site nearer the sea. It's very cool to wander the ancient streets, see the building ruins and the protective walls. Since you have a car, just remember you can drive out there if pressed for time or if you don't feel like hiking out. It's not a hard walk, but a bit of a distance.

If you have time to stay in the area, I would again highly recommend La Foresteria Planeta Estate, but I believe you already have your lodging set. They also have an excellent lunch/wine tasting (res required) that I am sorry I didn't have time for.

Buon viaggio! I wish I was going again.

Depending on your timing, you might be able to visit Segesta before Selinunte. I did. :-)
