Driving from Naples to Rome, with a stop at Patrica, Italy
 

Hi all,
Flying into Naples the beginning of September, and taking train/bus trips to various area around (Rome, Pompeii, Amalfi, etc). My partner's family lives in Patrica, which is about halfway between Naples and Rome. I'd love to be able to stop in on the way to Rome. Is there an alternate to renting a car just for one day?

You could take the train from Naples to Frosinone and have them pick you up at the station. Patrica is only 20 minutes away.

There is Cotral bus service between Patrica and Frosinione, but it is not very frequent. If someone can pick you up at the train station, Priverno-Fossanova may be more convenient because there are some direct trains from Naples. I believe you will need to connect in Rome or Caserta to get to Frosinione.

By train, the fastest way to get to Frosinone from Naples is to take the fast train to Rome, and then a regional train to Frosinone. From that perspective, it's not en route from Naples to Rome.

The buses to Patrica from Frosinone are not very frequent, but if you can find a good connection between train and bus, it's not a bad way to get there.

Buses to Largo Moretti, in Patrica, are on page 2. From there back to Frosinone, see page 1 for the schedules.

There are no buses on Sundays or holidays.

It is indeed quicker to get to Priverno from Naples without passing through Rome. However, Priverno would be a longer drive for your family to pick you up at the station, and there is no bus to Patrica from there.
