Driving from Granada to Sevilla
 

Hi all,

I'm planning spend 1 day in Granada, drive to Sevilla and spend another day there.
I'm going to rent a car to drive between these two cities and wonder if somebody knows how long is the drive. I've been reading some posts but couldn't find the time. I found in ViaMichelin that it takes 2:50min but I'm not sure because the train takes 3 hours.

Around 3 hours. Good curvy multi-lane highway all the way unto you get to Sevilla.

Since I can't edit . . . 4 hours. From my trip report:

"Easy drive out even though I missed the Ronda Sur highway & ended up driving through downtown Granada. Back on the highway - A92 - for the 4 hour drive to Sevilla. It started off with mountains all around & gradually flattened out. White towns (some with castles) whizzed by & the oleander between the east/west lanes pleased B. Lots of curves, I swear the road is never straight for more than 1 km the whole way, but no mountain passes etc. In Sevilla, A92 turns into Ave Andalusia which turns into Ave de Luis Montoyo etc . . . & heads straight into the Barrio Santa Cruz."

Why are you renting a car for a three-hour drive?

Yes, you could take the train. Unless you want to make stops, then why worry how long it takes?
Just some remarks to Ian's post: Ronda is not only the name of the town in the hills, but the name given to those motorways surrounding a city; thus Granada's ronda sur, the part of the motorway surrounding Granada on the south.
And the Seville Avenue is Luis Montoto.

I know I can take the train, but I wanted to visit the little towns on the road.
Another question: how long is the visit to the Catedral and la Giralda in Sevilla?

If that's the idea, then I may suggest stops at Archidona (a little out of the way, but only a little; it'll make a short visit); Antequera, long visit; Estepa, short; Osuna: long.
Long because there are several high spots to visit. Other towns along the way I may suggest you skip.

Re: time to visit the catedral and la Giralda. I think about 2-2 and 1/2 hours. Maybe even longer if you want to linger and see all the artwork and treasury items. It's very extensive, lots of stuff to see. La Giralda is cool, too. It was built with ramps rather than stairs so a guy could ride up on horsback several times daily. Great city views.
