Driving from Caen to Dordogne

In mid-September my wife and will be staying near Caen (France) and then plan to drive from there to the Dordogne region (France). Can we expect to be able to make the trip in one day? Thanks, Tom

You don't say where you are going in the Dordogne, but if you check www.viamichelin.com you can get a detailed itinerary with number of km., time, tolls, etc. Just enter Departure and Arrival

I checked Caen to Sarlat - it's 632 km. about 7 hours driving.

Note that it is 7 hours in a small fast car with either side of road or gear changing variations from the norm. My friends did it a few weeks ago and took 2 days to enjoy it

I suggest you set aside the question of whether or not the trip is possible in one day (I think it is). Ask yourself rather if it is an enjoyable option. If it were my choice, I would break the journey and see some interesting place along the way.

Hi lar,

My rule of thumb is to not drive more than 4 hr in a single day.

I suggest making it a 2-day drive.
