Driving between Countries in Europe
Apparently, driving from Spain through Southern France and into Northern Italy is not easy as car rental companies especially from Spain, do not like their cars to leave their countries. We are now exploring private car services to take us from Barcelona to Carcassonne / Avignon, and then another from Avignon to Turin or Milan. Any recommendations? We saw one outfit called Day Trip but are not familiar with it and want to ensure we are with a reputable and reliable company. We really do not want to do trains so a personal driver would be optimal. Thank you!

I understand you want a car but just to close out and offer a useful tool. https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Barcelona/Carcassonne

Another way to do it is to take public transportation to Narbonne and rent a car for your time in France, drop the car off in Nice and take a bus to Ventimiglia and rent a car for your Italian part of the trip if a car is necessary.

How long is the trip? Often the better choice is one of the French lease offers. Assuming you aren't an EU citizen.
For the cost of a private driver from Spain to Italy you likely can buy a car. |

We drop off cars in one country, taxi to next country( or take train, bus) and pick up the next car. This saves a huge drop off fee.

Thank you! This is very helpful!

We were quoted a 1000€ drop fee from Portugal to Spain.
